JV & Frosh Finish Successful Seasons

The Junior Varsity and Freshmen baseball teams completed successful 2012 seasons. After getting off to a slow start, the JV finished 15-6, including sweeps of North Medford, Grants Pass, and Ashland. They took two of three games from Roseburg and Eagle Point, and capped the season by finally beating South Medford, thanks largely to a stalwart complete-game pitching performance by Rick Joerger.  The freshmen team also featured quality pitching, including complete game shut outs by Dylan Pearce. They finished 14-4, sweeping North Medford and Grants Pass while also taking two of three from Roseburg.

D2 Tryout

Freshmen and sophomores within the Central Point School District are eligible to tryout for the Junior Baseball D2 team on Thursday, May 24th, at 5:00 at Anhorn Field. This one day tryout also serves as the first official practice, so existing players are expected to attend. The D2 team is Crater Baseball’s official sub-American Legion team. We expect a 40+ games schedule including at least one road trip to Portland or Eugene. The cost to play is $250. Though still being developed, the schedule can be found here. Wynant Sets Tone

The Mail Tribune recently featured Crater third baseman Corey Wynant on the cover of its sports page. Corey is a four year starter for Crater and last year was named to the Honorable Mentioned All-State team. A big key to the team’s success this year has been Corey’s willingness to move from short stop to third base without complaint. Check out the article by clicking here.
