Dual League Championships

Crater’s summer teams have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success this year. The American Legion ‘A’ team finished as league champions, completing the regular season with a 43-6 record. Their season included a 25 game win streak and 40 wins out of their last 42 games. They’re on to the State Tourney in Coos Bay, which begins August 1st. The Division 2 team, meanwhile, finished the season 22-13 and won the League Championship Tourney with a 12-11 win over Roseburg.

Wynant Sets Tone

The Mail Tribune recently featured Crater third baseman Corey Wynant on the cover of its sports page. Corey is a four year starter for Crater and last year was named to the Honorable Mentioned All-State team. A big key to the team’s success this year has been Corey’s willingness to move from short stop to third base without complaint. Check out the article by clicking here.

Anthony Martin Drives the ball against Ashland

Both the Varsity and JV baseball teams swept Grants Pass on Saturday, April 14th. The victories improved the Varsity’s record to 13-1 and 5-1 in league play. They’ll head to Roseburg on Saturday, April 21st. The JV improved to 7-3 on the season. They’ll visit Grants Pass again on Wednesday before traveling to Roseburg on Saturday.

Crater Defeats Defending State Champs

At the 6th annual Southern Oregon Spring Break Tourney, Crater used a game winning home run by Blake Fahndrich and clutch pitching by Chris Painter to defeat defending state champion Westview 5-3. Crater Sweeps South Medford

Strong pitching by Nolan Bastendorf and Chris Painter, along with a pair of homeruns by Corey Wynant, propelled Crater to a pair of conference wins over South. Crater’s first tourney game is Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
